Teaching, Training and Career

It is our aim to continuously promote the scientific potential of our staff and students and to support them as individually and enduring as possible at all stages of their career development.

Students

Scientists of the DKFZ-ZMBH Alliance make an essential contribution to the academic curriculum and teach students in the Bachelor programs „Molecular Cell Biology and Biology“, the Master program „Molecular Biosciences“ with its majors „Molecular and Cellular Biology“ and „Cancer Biology“ as well as in various courses of the Medical Faculty.

PhD Students

There are two graduate schools with a focus on molecular and tumor biology tending for the PhD Students of the Alliance: the „Hartmut Hoffmann-Berling International Graduate School of Molecular and Cellular Biology“ and the „Helmholtz International Graduate School for Cancer Research“. Aside from that, Medical students are offered the possibility to work on a research-oriented doctoral thesis via an MD Program. In addition all PhD students are offered a comprehensive training program with a wide spectrum of topics.

Post-doctoral Fellows

Postdoctoral Fellows are supported by a Career Development Program in their individual career planning and development. Moreover, the institutionalized network INESS (Interactive Network of Senior Scientists) promotes scientific communication and helps with work-related questions. Within the DKFZ-ZMBH-Alliance a tenure-track option is offered to junior research group leaders.
